DCS-942 problem with false snapshotsmail
« on: March 23, 2012, 02:19:55 AM »

I get mail nearly every minut even if sensitive is set on 1%. The same problem with PIR. I have also one DCS-1130 and 2 DCS-932 and these work much better. Have anyone else the same problem or is there some settings that I don't have understod?

I have been experiencing the same problem. I have experimented extensively with the motion area, sensitivity, and PIR and there are still a lot of false snapshots compared to the DCS-932L sitting right beside it.

I was hoping for a firmware upgrade. I am using v1.01. So far this seems to be the latest.

I have been having the same problems with two of these cameras I just bought.  No matter what the sensitivity they continue to e-mail snapshots 100's of times a day.  I though it was a problem with the PIR, I unchecked it, kept motion detection checked, and highlighted 1 square in an area which would have no movement.  I have it about 5 inches from the wall, I am sure there is nothing moving between the camera and the wall.  Still getting 100's of email snapshots of a wall based on motion detection.

Trying to get the thing to save settings has become irritating.  I get a time-out on its webserver 80-90% of the time attempting to save a setting.

I have reset, reflashed  etc 2 times on both with zero improvement.

You might try moving it away from the wall. I mostly solved thos problem by turning off PIR, lowering the sensitivity to 50, and shrinking the motion area down.

When the sun comes up or does down, ot a cloud comes over, this change in light causes a change in color so that can set ip off.

The fake snapshots comes even in the night from DCS-942 but DCS-1130 works perfect from the same place and DCS-932 gives a few false.  The SW in DCS-942 must be complete different. As I said before I use only 1% sensitivity with DCS-942. May it be some sort of disturbance in my house? But I have the same problem no matter where in the house I use the camera.

When I was using the old 1.02 (1029) EU firmware (only for European users), I noted on live-view, during the night and with IR lights on, a kind of snowing that caused many wrong motion detections. Now I'm using an updated EU firmware 1.10 (1229 - also this one for European users only) that has solved this problem, now I receive very-very few motion detections during the night.
Please contact your local D-Link tech support in order to have an updated firmware that may solve this problem.

Thank you Joe, after much nagging, I managed to get SW 1.10 and now I get no fake mail despite 100% sensitivity. Now its time to get new SW for DCS-932 also.
