Guest zone missing in my DIR850L
« on: February 18, 2014, 11:49:02 PM »

I just bought an DIR850L router in January. Since I want to use the guest network features for my place. I found that there are no guest zone under the advanced tab of the router interface. My hardware version is A1 and firmware version is 1.07 SG.

After I saw this problem, I have call to dlink technical support, they provide me a download link and ask me to update the firmware to 1.09 SG. After update the firmware, the guest zone are still missing.

So is that a firmware problem or a product problem? Is that anybody have that problem too?

I am from Malaysia and I bought it there.

I recommend that you check the user manual for GZ features, if it's not there then it's possible that your region doesn't support it.

Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Did you follow this for updating FW?
FW Update Process

You could try reloading the WW version of FW code instead of the SG version.

If that fails to enable the GZ, I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support and get an RMA.

I am using google chrome now.

So i have found the guest zone feature in the user manual. And this is the image in the user manual. From there I can see that there are a guest zone below the advanced network.

However, this is the interface in my router. The guest zone is missing.

I have already did reset by following the instruction of FW Update Process but is still same problem.

Try loading the WW version from here:
http://tsd.dlink.com.tw

Please do a factory reset, load the .bin file, then factory reset once again afterwards. Please use IE or FF only. Do not use Chrome to do this.

Is that WW version firmware compatible with malaysia internet service?

If not, how can I downgrade back to previous firmware?

I presume it should be as it's a World Wide version. You can alway go back to the SG version.

Please follow the FW update process linked in my earlier posts.
