It is listed as a network storage device but the volume is not; therefore not is accessible.

Thanks in advance for the assistance..

The DNS-323 works in WIndows7 just as it does in Vista. Run the Easy Search Utility and configure the unit and setup your drives. Then in the utility you can map them to your PC as drives. Just follow the same steps as in Vista.

If you have trouble with the ESU, just map a drive to your 323's IP address:

\\192.168.0.20\Volume_1  (or whatever you set the IP to)

Username:  \user
Password:  whatever you set it to.

The \ is important with the user name.

Go to the dlink support page for the 323 and download the driver.  You'll find the DNS-323 listed in Device Manager with a driver missing.  If you right click and update driver you can browse to wherever you downloaded the driver files to.  And Bob's yer uncle.

I use the Easy Search but I run it in XP compatiability mode (right click on the .exe file and choose the compability tab.)

DONT MAKE MY MISTAKE - be sure to turn of zone-alarm, or at least authorize the ez-setup program to access the internet.

it seems that win-7 and zone-alarm does not give you any sort of warning when the ez-setup program runs.  it just sits there for a minute and does nothing.

LLTD (Link Layer Topology Discovery) is not required to map or use a DNS-323 in Windows 7 - all LLTD will do for you is allow Windows 7 network map to draw a pretty picture, but you can map a drive and read/write data without it.

Same goes for the Windows 7 drivers for the DNS-323 - it'll give you a nice picture in devices & printers - but they're not required to actually use the NAS.

I've never loaded any drivers to access the DNS-323 or DNS-321 from any version of Windows.  LLTD is Vista/Win7 eye-candy, nothing to do with actual network access.
