Problem with downloaden 11MB
« on: September 06, 2010, 06:04:57 AM »

Hello,

Since the last days, I have a download speed of 11MB+. When I download something from the internet and the download speeds is under the 11MB everything is fine. But when my download sped comes up to 11MB for a few seconds, I have no more internet and I can't access the webpage of my router. The only thing I can do is a power reset and eveything works normal until.....

Thanks the help.

I changed it from 1500 to 1000, but this doesn't work. After that I changed it to 800, bu that didn't solved the problem either.

I hope someone else has some suggentions.

Thanks,

I tried 1492, but this doesn't work either. At this moment i have an other download program so I can say that it can only use 10MB now eveything works fine. But I hope that there is a solution, so i can download without download manager.

My download speed is 120megabit and I had the same problem as you when my provider upgraded my connection from 50Megabit to 120Megabit. The router would only hang with high speed downloads (multiple connections to usenet provider).

My setup was:
dir-655 --> cat 5 --> 100mbit switch --> my pc.

I changed that to:
 dir-655--> cat 6 --> 1000mbit switch --> my pc.

I don't know if this network setup relates to yours but since I changed mine: no more hangups and full 15 megabytes downloading speed(the upgrade 100->120 in speed is naturally caused by the switch upgrade)

I hope this helps.

I have the same problem as Smika.

The last weeks my provider went from 80mb to 120mb and now my DIR-655 always has no connection anymore when I download something from newsgroups for a few minutes.

The strange things is that when I download with Newsleecher the DIR-655 losses connection. But when I use an other program like GrabIt then the DIR-655 doesn't lose connection.

I have the latest firmware 1.34EUb05

Modem 120mb -> DIR-655 -> CAT5 -> 100mb networkcard

After the problem exist i made a screenshot. Maybe someone of you know what the problem is:

OS: Windows 7 x64
All drivers are up to date.
DIR655 1.34EU firmware. (also had the same whit 131EU)

I have also made a screenshot after the reset. If someone wants to see, just let me know.

Now i conected my computer direct to the internet and when i look in the log of windows i see two DHCP-Client errors

Quote from: DHCP-Client
An error occurred while initializing the adapter 11. Error Code: 0x490
What is adapter11?

and

Quote from: DHCP-Client
This computer is the network address (the DHCP server) is not renewed for the Network Card with network address 0x00241DD6300F. The following error occurred: 0x490. The computer will keep trying to own an address from the server with network address (DHCP server) to obtain.

Thanks for the help.

I have a T100 line for more than year and half now and never had problem with my dir 655 . The issue isn't the router but the app Newsleecher/GrabIt aren't designed for those speeds .
I never got anything better than 50-60 mbit with them . Also take not that at those speeds the hdd is the bottleneck also and anti-virus/firewall could also slow you down . Try using Newsbin Pro and you'll see rock solid 100 mbit/s speeds all the time.

There isn't at the moment any consumer router that can handle wireless connections the amount of stress a usenet/torrenting does at high speeds 80+mbit , but in you're case you are using wired connections, so my guess would be : either you're network adapter would fail under traffic ( some types of on board Realtek nics tend to do that),so try using a different network card  ,or third party firewall/antivirus/antispyware is interfering , so you might wanna try disabling the firewall/antivirus/antispyware(if it's just the windows 7 firewall ignore this).
