Unable to Connect to Dlink
« on: August 21, 2020, 07:49:11 PM »

I have a brand new in the box D-Link DCS-932L.
I can use the old set up disk to connect to my home intranet and view on DVC BUT it won't finish the  normal setup to connect to My Dlink.  Instead whether I use the startup disk or the DLink Android app it always gives an unable to connect to the internet error.

Of course DLink support won't help because the DCS-932L  is no longer supported.

I can think of two possibilities -either DLink won't let a new setup of an unsupported camera connect to their servers OR because I am on the original firmware it won't connect.

Could it be the firmware?  If so is there a place to download newer firmware for my DCS-932L?

Would I need to install all of the firmwarw updates in sequence or could I just install the best one?

Most of all where can I download them.  I found European and UK firmware but NOT  USA.

DLINK won't help me.  Will you?  I'd be so very grateful.

The 932 has a ethernet port if I remember right, if you connect it to a router you should be able to get to the cameras web page in a browser to update the FW manually if you get the FW file from D-Link:
http://legacyfiles.us.dlink.com/DCS-932L

I would use IE11 or FireFox browser to access the web page. Look at the routers connected clients list for the iP address. If you can update the FW, then try adding it to MDL. My 933L is still connected to there services.

Do  I have to go through each firmware version in sequence or can I jump right to the end?  I know how to update mNually but couldn't find the firmware and don't  know which version to load.

Thanks so much for your reply!

What rev is this camera and what version of FW is loaded on it?
Not sure about going direct to latest. I have never done that. Routers mostly yes you can do that. My cameras have been graduated. Might be safe to do it that way.

My version is A and my current firmware is 1.01 so I would have to do all of them.  As I understand it one mistake from bad download or upload and the camera is a paper weight.  My old  932 died so I bought a new one in the box and another that had only been used for D'View Cam  and was never connected to Dlink so it also is on the first firware version.  Maybe I will risk the old one.  Perhaps someone here knows for sure if I have to go through installing every version in sequence OR  the first version that is new enough to connect to
My Dlink for internet use.  I know at one point you lise the ability co connect directly through ip address in explorer so once I get.to.that one no more manual updates.  At least that is what happened to my original 932 that took all the updates.

I manually successfully updated the firmware to the most recent
version 1.14.  It enables me to connect to camera using Dlink local now BUT it will not allow me to connect to my Dlink Account
I reset and tried going through all the steps but no dice.  The question is whether Dlink is blocking access to new devices in their server.

Question - In the screen you get to update firmware there are other options. One is add user account under maintenance tab.

I don't suppose merely adding the my dlink user name (my email addy) and password then clicking add would magically add my camera to the My Dlink account?

What rev is this camera and what version of FW is loaded on it?

Try setting a admin and PW on the log in first. Then try adding the camera to the MD account using your MD account user name and PW.

If that fails, contact D-Link on chat support and see if the camera can be added or not.

I called DLink customer support first thing!  Because my new cam is an old model they will offer no help nor support
  Nada. Nothing.

I already have a admin and pw.  I use it for D View Cam.  I just Don't know if adding a user name and pw under  maintenance connects me to My Dlink.  Perhaps someone has tried this?

I'm guessing it just changes how I sign in to the camera on my camera to get to the Dlink maintenance screen but if it ever added my cam to my dlink giving me access away from home I will add a gif of me doing the Irish jig.  You can call the ambulance when I collapse

Thats for adding a local user account to the camera. Won't do anything for MDL. I looked at my 933L.

Did you try mydlink Lite app? IF so, and it's not working, I presume D-Link may be blocking older products. Haven't tried with with mine. I just bought a new gen camera and it added as I would expect. My older cameras have been connected to there services since 2012.

Me too but my old camera died.  Red light only and  wifi connect button doesn't work.  It already had the  latest firmware.   There is a procedure to recover a camera frozen in red led . I tried it but no joy.  Then a bought a new device that hooked up instantly but I aim it out my window and it cannot detect motion through glass and screen so it was never on.  Fish eye lens was no good for me either.  I returned that and out of desperation resorted to buying an old 932 new in box.  Seller through in an old one he used to use.  Both could only connect to intranet.    That brought me to where I am now.  Updating the firmware didn't do much for me except allow connecting locally in Dlink lite.

The most important thing is I can get  a 14 hour steady recording for D View Cam now.  Viewing from the web was only a convenience.  It never occurred to me I couldn't connect to Dlink.

Now it's a puzzle and I KNOW some techy out there knows the solution.  Some 3rd level tech support guy who.has been with Dlink since the 932 was invented knows.

After updating to latest firmware (14) then doing a reset going through the setup to install in My DLink I get a weird problem.

Despite doing a reset (pin inserted in hole until blue lights turn off then unplug and plug in again) while trying to set up whether I use wps when instructed by Dlink lite  or saying no wps connecting to wire led turns green as expected.  When I chose connect the green light is supposed to turn off when it connects to wifi then turn on again.  Instead the steady green light turns to the blinking green led meaning the camera is no connected and viewing.  That shouldn't happen until My Dlink has connected.  It doesn't wait.  Then My Dlink says unable to connect and says to check connections.  Obviously the connections are there because the camera shows up as connected in my Xfi and if I enter its ip in explorer it is already broadcasting.

It's like it just won't wait for My Dlink Lite to do its thing?  I could really use a suggestion.

Thanks again everyone for your patience with noob
