Title: Can not get camera DCS-942l to work on PC
Post by: rajung on January 04, 2013, 11:56:12 AM
I just purchased 2 cameras and have one set up.
Firmware V 1.12
Works great on my android phone and connects fairly quick.
When I try to see the camera image on my PC with windows 7 64 bit, I log into my d-link and it shows the camera name on left side of screen, then says Java run time enviroment not installed.
I uninstalled java 5 times and re installed both 32 and 64 bit but keeps coming back as not installed.
Camera is set up wirelessly through a Belkin router
so far no EZ config

Do you have another browser installed (e.g. FireFox) to test connectivity?

Your symptoms sound like a firewall is possibly blocking access.  Do you have a firewall in front of the PC?

Disable ALL 3rd party security SW while installing the product, i.e. Anti-Virus and Firewalls.

Reset IE back to defaults.
I would empty all IE caches, run disk cleanup and maybe do a reboot before installing anything.
Does a later versions of Java install and work with DCS? Java 7 I think is the most recent.

You might want to uninstall ALL DLink drivers first, then get the Windows PCs updated and the version of Java installed correctly before trying to install any DLink items.

I went back and re installed camera set up
the set up finished and I had a live video on camera
its says to log into dlink to  view and manage the cloud camera
still does the same thing.
How do you uninstall the dlink drivers?
there is no software installed, just the web short cut that gets placed on desk top after running the set up wizard that I downloaded
they could have saved a little more money by eliminating the shrink wrap on the box, at least 0.01

Well I think I have it working finally.
Found on page 2, a post by sfazekas
Looks like they had the same issue.I ran the application titled, DCS-942L_A3_wizard_V1.01_2523
I assumed that was the right one since my hardware version is A3
I left all firewall and and virus programs running.I have no idea what the other wizard app's are for such as the WW one.
I also can not get the word documents to open to see if the version I need is right, just a bunch of fonts mess no matter what I try to open in.
I am at the point to where I opened, saved ,deleted, overwrote, d/l so much I lost track of what I did to get to this point.
Have no clue why the other MYDlink doesn't work for me when this , what appears to be older does.
Especially with all the Java Run time error not installed issue.
Any ideas?I still like to get installed correctly if it isn't.
thanks
