If I connected my device manually to wifi and type the ip address in explorer I get a set up screen.  If I go to maintenance tab under Admin and add the My Dlink email address and password would that connect the camera to My Dlink Account to avoid resetting and going through the setup again?

No, this is for a local user account in addition to the admin account only. I believe any camera thats added to to the MDL service has to use the mydlink Lite or mydlink apps to get them associated with there service.

Depends on the camera. What is the model number?

If it says MYDLINK ACCOUNT then yes you can add your mydlink login here. Some cameras require the setup software (only available at tsd.dlink.com.tw) or resetting the camera and setup through the app.

DCS-932L.

Out of curiosity, is D-Link blocking any older legacy cameras from connecting to the service if say one found a camera new in box?

I was told after the End-of-Service announcement it should still work with the mydlink service, but as time goes on and the mydlink backend/agent is updated, old cameras may no longer work. D-Link will not purposely block devices unless there is a sever security issue, but note D-Link will no longer update firmware for the camera.

I still have a 930L camera going after 8+ years sitting in a hot window sill that is still working so I hope it continues to work for a while.

OK, all makes sense.

Ya, my 933L is still going and working in my window since 2012.  ;)
