DGL-4500 and IP Phone
« on: December 29, 2009, 05:18:32 PM »

I want to set the router to make my IP phone modem high priority. How can I do that? Thru the gamefuel tab? I know the ip address and port but don't know the other info. How can I find the remote numbers?

Thanks,

yes that would be a qos setting...

remember, you ONLY get email and web surfing from WiFi, not text or phone calls.

I have ATT and a Samsung Jack which has wifi.  Works great for the emails and web access via browser.

ZERO for phone calls.

IF you have Skype on there as an app, that is a different story.

Thanks,
It is a wired ip modem from phonepower behind the router with an assigned ip address. I just want to make sure when it is in use it gets priority bandwidth. My wife is ?itching because when I'm d/l stuff and she is on the phone the service gets real bad and sometimes disconnects. I have cable internet with decent speed.
Can someone walk me thru setting this up in the gamefuel settings? It is on DMZ right now.

Thanks.

We are using a NetGear SPH200D Skype phone, and the only thing I did for it was give it a specific IP address, and it works great.

In my experience Gamefuel caused more issues than it solved, but I have read other folks who have the opposite opinion. Give it a try, see what your call quality is like in each situation. Also, check out http://www.pingtest.net/, as it will give you a good idea of your connection and its ability to handle VOIP.

Hope this helps,
Hank

Ping test cam back with a line quality "A". How would I find the Remote port and Remote Ip range to use in  the gamefuel settings?

Thanks again.

Can try these, these are used for XBL however the range is all inclusive so I presume that this range will include any and or all ports to what your trying to connect to:

Remote IP Range: 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255
Protocol / Ports
TCP
0 / 65535
0 / 65535

Let us know if this works or not.
