Have had this same issue on three 936L's for months. Unfortunately with D-Link this is what will happen in regards to updated firmware:  Absolutely nothing. I would advise to take that camera back immediately if possible so you don't have to go through what the rest of us keep dealing with. They will tell you to be patient, that it is "under review" and NOTHING will get done. I have a case number in with D-link on this, I check in about once a week with tech support with zero progress. I am baffled this company can stay in business. It owes a refund to every person that purchased the 936L model.

Hello - I purchased the DCS-936L after having positive experiences with the DCS-930L, and the 936L is constantly giving me false alarms. After working through various settings for hours on end, I have nothing to show for it. I have tried to reset and update the firmware but it still does not work. It seems that the camera is constantly refocusing no matter what mode I put it in. The constant false alarms are going off every minute, but the camera fails to detect people or cars, which is why I purchased it. I walk back and forth in front of it and no notifications are generated. Please advise what I should do and please advise if there will be a firmware update soon.

I've been having the same issue with the motion detection sensitivity on my DSC-936L as well. It's to the point where I keep the motion sensing off to avoid the multiple false alarms that I receive during the day. Also, i'm running the latest firmware and live in Jacksonville, FL area. I've been checking this forum for months but finally came across others having the same issue. Sadly it appears I'm not alone.

Motion sensor don't work using Beta Firmware. Why released this model without proper QA.

I tried this Beta since my two cameras don't work correctly either for motion. False positives no matter what I do. Now with the Beta it detects motion but does not record based on motion. I get notifications which appear to be accurate, but no recordings. So back to useless again.

UPDATE:  since it was detecting motion but wouldn't record anymore I decided to format the SD card again.  It actually appears to be working at this time on one of my cameras which doesn't see light changes so I will plan on updating my other camera and report back.

Xccess - Please elaborate. What exactly isn't working? What sensitivity did you set? Explain your environment.

sgdossey -
1. Try ejecting the SD card and put back in. If not recording then reformat the card. If still not recording then
2. Disable motion, save, reboot (not reset) camera. Enable it and verify the recording settings are correct. If still not recording then
3. Reset the camera back to default settings and set up again.

Approx 2.5 hours later and my camera with the Beta Firmware appears to be working and properly detecting motion at 84% sensitivity setting. I didn't try any other sensitivity since it appears to be working. I won't be able to tell until the sun hits the areas if lighting will impact it, but it is a much better so far. 100% accurate for 2.5 hours. I did notice something interesting though. I had to reformat my SD cards for motion recording to start again after firmware update.  I rebooted one of the cameras just for a test and sure enough no recordings to SD again until I reformatted. Not a deal breaker since I don't typically reboot the camera's but something to note.

Glad it is working. Please keep us updated.

I will test the SD card myself this weekend. It's the first I have heard of it with this firmware. What brand/size are your cards? I assume same in both your cameras.

Actually different SD cards, one is a 16G and the other a 32G. I don't recall the brands, they are not easy to reach as they are mounted high.  I finally go two false positives on the one with a lot of light changes that could be it, but still not as bad as before and I am turning down from 84% to 79% and will see how that goes. I will play with it over the next couple of days and give feedback once I find a sweetspot.

UPDATE : 6-19-17  At least for me with this Beta Firmware things have been working really good through the weekend. I have a camera mounted high aiming at my front porch and it detects motion extremely accurately at 79% setting and hasn't been getting false postivies. I thought I had a few, but it recorded when switching form night mode to daylight which is fine.  The camera is mounted outside under the patio cover in a very safe area and yes I know it isn't technically an outside camera. Anyway the updated Beta firmware as been a huge improvement for me. I have another camera in my garage with good results also.

Thanks for the update. Glad it is working for you.

EDIT: I did test the SD card issue you had and I had the same results. The motion detection stopped recording after the firmware upgrade. I will have the camera guys test it too just to make sure.

I originally said it worked but was looking at the wrong DCS-936L camera.  ::)

Ejecting the card and putting it back in did not fix. You have to disable SD Recording and then reformat the card.
