Wireless connected but no internet access
« on: May 19, 2015, 05:57:52 PM »

I recently purchased a DIR-850L wireless router.  With a wired connection between my laptop and the new router I have an internet connection.  The laptop shows I'm also wirelessly connected.  Without the wired connection I have no internet access.  With my iPad and iPod the internet connection works fine.  I also have a D-Link camera that works fine on the iPad and iPod.  I am running Windows XP SP-3 with IE 8.  I have tried Google Chrome browser on the laptop with the same result.  Wirelessly I cannot sucessfully ping 4.2.2.2 or the in use IP address of the new router.  When I ping these addresses "wired" they all work.  Help!

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion and Good Neighbour Policy
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.

If other devices are connecting to the router and the LT doesn't get correct operation when connected wirelessly, then the issue is with the LT and it's configuration. You might try removing any prior wifi profiles from the Laptop, then set them up again. You need to disconnect the LAN wired from the LT if your going to use wireless on the LT. It may not support both connections at the same time.
