Here is a start. This is the list of compatible drives for the DNS-320L. Also even if your particular HD is not listed here, it does not mean it won't work. I like to remind people that there are only TWO main HD vendors left (Seagate and WD). Why would they make something that's not "standard" ;). My other advice is to stay away from models with "new feature" jargon (spinright, megaspeed, ultrabuffer technology etc). It either won't work or won't be able to take advantage of. Try to stay as plain vanilla as possible.

Hi,
Mine 320L works with two HDDs:
- Western Digital Red 2000GB 64MB cache (WD20EFRX)
Western Digital WD Green WD6400AACS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache
Both discs work fine.
One thing only: on the WD Green disc I have the P2P directories. The P2P app mostly in seed status. What bothers me is the HDD switch on/off noise. Will have to change that one to a RED or BLACK.

I can say something about commonly used Western Digital drives: WD has several flavors of its hard drives:
- Blue - mass-market - intended for mass market desktops/worstations (e.g. WD10EALX,WD10EAEX)
- Green - economic - intended for desktops/worstations with lower consumption (e.g. WD10EARX, WD10EZRX)
- Red - durability - dedicated for NAS devices (e.g. WD10EFRX)
- Black - heavy-duty - intended for servers (e.g. WD1002FAEX)
So if you intend to run your NAS 24/7 you should invest money in red drives (3 years warranty). They are silent, and have low consumption like green ones. If you don't need 24/7 then green ones (2 years warranty) fit well too. I bought 2x2TB green ones (WD20EARX) and they work fine. EARX are little bit slower (110MB/s) than EZRX (126MB/s) drives but work more silently and with lower consumption. However, I think that nobody should bother himself too much about speed (you will not reach this speed anyway in your NAS, no way), and differences between consumptions are really nothing, etc. Silent work, warranty, capacity (of course) and finally price - do matter.
If you want to compare and choose, maybe this helps: WD hard drives matrix comparison (http://itcomparisons.blogspot.com/2013/01/wd-hard-drives.html)
Added notation to compatible HDD list.

I have been changed my hard drive in my NAS. The new hard drive is WD10JPVT, it works fine, but the NAS doesn't able to read the correct tempature. This is not a big deal for me..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a mobile HDD? (i.e. 2.5")

Hi,
I notice on my hdd capacity it becomes 3664.9GB instead 4tb what happend to 336gb lost after reformatted the hard drive ON D-link dns 320L
Does any one have this space capacity into a 4TB hard drive?
I moved your post to a new thread here: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=56322.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=56322.0)

Hello guys...
I noticed on the compatible list that the Green WD20EZRX is listed as tested and compatible.
I have just installed 2 of them into my new DNS320L, and I'm facing the following issues:
1. Under Disk Management > SMART Test, I can see the HDDs and run tests on them.
2. Under Disk Management > HDD Configuration, there are no options to configure/format the new HDDs.
3. Under System Status > HDD Info, I'm seeing "No Volume Found".
Can anyone offer any advice about this? Am I doomed to buy new HDDs?
Thank you.

On a mac by any chance? I had the same symptoms (in both chrome and safari) on os x. Firefox works on OSX. Also works fine in IE on windows of course... :-\

My conf:
RAID-1 configuration of two of those:
- seagate sv35 ST2000VX000
Works perfectly (I will post torture tests later)
(description at: http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/consumer-electronics/sv35/ (http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/consumer-electronics/sv35/))
These drives are mainly designed to Video-surveillance purpose. I liked the fact that where are less expensive than constellation/ES seagate line with correct perfs (also, some bundle come with these disks... they should not be to bad :) )

I saw >>> This ShareCenter storage device has a storage capacity of up to 4TB (greater capacities supported with future firmware release) and this >> Supports up to 6TB storage capacity using 3TB disk drives (greater capacities supported with future firmware release). So anybody has 2 x 4tb or 2 x 3tb hdd connected on there DNS 320 L ?

I installed a Western Digital WD20EZRZ-00Z5HB0 (2TB) yesterday as a second disk. Used it to upgrade my existing single volume (on a Hitachi Deskstar) to RAID1. Upgrade went flawlessly. No long time experiences yet, obviously. If I encounter any problems, I'll post them here.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask them specifically if 6Tb drives are supported. They may not be.
Let us know what you find out please.

I believe the WD20EZRZ is actually a 2TB drive. As stated in my previous post, just above thiamhai's, I installed one of these in my DNS320L in February. So far, it's running without issues.

Enjoy. ;)

I am using a 6Tb Western Digital WDC WD6002FFWX successfully in DNS 320L - this I understand is essentially a 128 Mb cache version of WD60EFRX (64mb). Because I could not afford 2 of these drives just now, I have it in a JBOD with a 3Tb WDC WD30EZRX, making 8312.5 GB. I know this is not really a raid, but the DNS320 acts as a server for my video collection, and the "master copy" of my files is on my PC.
Before installing I upgraded the firmware ( DLINK_DNS320L(LW).1.08b08(3.07.0420.2016))
While setting up I found that Windows 10 (x64pro is my version) would not run the version of the D-Link storage utility that came with the original CD, but the newer version D-Link Storage Utility(5.2.1.7)_01072016 was OK

I have a new configuration of my HDD. I replaced my Disk2 Seagate 2TB for the new one Seagate Barracuda 8TB, the NAS 320L detect automatically and the drive works perfectly.
Disk1 : Seagate Barracuda ST4000DM005-2DP166 - 4TB - Sata3

Hi! Are you shure that all these drives are compatible? Have you reached their full capacity. I can't fill up my WD Red 3 TB. Can't use last 250 GB. I have the latest firmware. Tried with Toshiba 3 tb. Same thing. I don't believe my 320l is an exception.

Just curious, what FW version do you have loaded on your DNS?
