Title: WIFI pcs connected to internet, but wired pcs cant connect

The wired connection shows they reach internet on windows network menus, just to make it really odd.

Pc's with wireless connections can brows/email internet
pc with wired connection cannot browse or email internet (chrome and Thunderbird)
SAME pc, unplugged from wired connection and connected via wifi can browse (crhome) and email (theunderbird).

100% repeatable, many reboots, windows 7 diagnose network shows its ok in both instances.
ping of google works either way.

so its behaving differently for http and imap on wired connection than it does on wifi connection.

I dug through menus in the 827 router but found nothing set that was obvious could have this behavior.

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.

  • By-pass the main host router and check internet connection by connecting a wired LAN PC directly to the ISP modem to verify connection access and ISP speeds.
not done yet due to time available. Every test requires me to disconnect/reconnect the pc, so it is pretty slow to try stuff. Will do
these things when time permits. Also every time i return to the router web page or change pages it makes me sign in to admin again.
VERY annoying.

  • Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6)
no effect (already tried)

  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53008.0)
isp is time warner cable, but i dont know the answer at present

  • Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
dont see the option

  • Enable or Disable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) and test under Setup/Internet/Manual. Disable may help with speed performance on higher speed ISP services.

found the setting, not done yet due to time available.

  • Setup DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0) reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.

  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
done, except for a network storage device. Its not really accessed over internet or thru router

  • If IPv6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipv6) is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only under Setup/IPv6.
  • Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall. Enable or Disable SPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPI) to test.

that doesnt seem to be an option on my firewall settings page.

  • Enable uPnP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upnp) and Multi-cast Streaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast) under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=4235.0) rules. Enable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming for routers that have a Media Server option. Disable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming if IPv6 or Media Server is not being used.
upnp was on, Enable Multicast Streams was off, dont see ipv6 on this page

  • Turn off WISH (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40459.0), and WPS under Advanced.

  • WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
it is set to 10/100/1000

  • Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP Server (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48695.0) feature. The DST setting is only needed in the NA region. Tools/Time.
it is set to ntp1.dlink.com and ntp server enabled

PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

not complete yet due to time available. Using AVG free version. It worked (wired connections) with the old router that just died.

Ok, maybe when you get time, lets try a FW update. Your router is behind:

Also your ISP modem may already have a router built in:

In fact, you may want to disconnect the 827 router and just use the ISP modem as your main host router and WiFi.
