Title: Camera accessibility problems when running 202?
Post by: cdre on December 04, 2015, 04:17:17 AM
I've had 4 DCS series cameras for a year now and just added a DNR-202L.  For some reason, whenever I plug in my DNR-202L, streams from the cameras become all but unwatchable via the app.  They just can't connect consistently for more than a few seconds.  Unplug the DNR, and the cameras are back up and running fairly consistently.  Anyone else have this issue?  Anyone have any suggestions?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is the DNS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DNR set to 192.168.#.2 or .202.
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as well.
Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=62395.0)

Hardware is A.  I did an update to the latest firmware on dlink's website.  I'm in the US.  Main router is a linksys e3000.  I'll make the recommended changes when I can later this week.

I had the exact same issue and found it was my router.  I had a netgear low end router.  I think it just could not handle the data.   I replaced the router with another router and things work well.  My sugestion is to buy a new router somewhere you can take it back.

Also a installation of a external Gb network switch might help as well. Low end routers are ok however may exhibit some issues with bandwidth and heavy loads and streams are imposed.

I'm up and running.  Made the recommended changes and upgraded my router.  Running much more smoothly now...   Thanks!
