Title: dsn-3200 and virtualbox iscsi
Post by: baggar11 on September 24, 2009, 11:03:16 AM
Trying to get Virtualbox 3.0.6 to access dsn-3200 targets, on an ubuntu 9.04 host. Doesn't seem to like them for some reason. Has anyone else had this problem, or us virtualbox with their dsn-3200? Would love to be able to get the 2 connected.

I didn't know that VirtualBox did iSCSI directly.

Is that what you are trying to get happening or do you already have a iSCSI target initiated that you are trying to place VirtualBox hard disk image files on?

Virtualbox does iSCSI directly via the command line. -->

VBoxManage addiscsidisk --server <ip> --target <name>

So I've got a target setup on the dsn3200, and I'm giving virtualbox the correct ip and target name. The interface for the dsn3200 shows that I'm connected to the target, but I get a weird "VERR_IO_GEN_FAILURE" from virtualbox.

Does VirtualBox have it's own iSCSI libraries, or is it just a wrapper for o*****CSI or somethink like that?

It's not a wrapper. Open-iscsi or another initiator isn't required for it to work.
