DIR-868L - 5GHz Channels not showing above CH48 (5.240GHz)
« on: January 28, 2014, 08:51:25 AM »

Hi all!
I received my DIR-868L today and am a happy user so far.
There's just one thing I noticed: I wanted to set the channel quite a bit higher (more bandwidth and less used by other 5GHz Routers in my neighborhood), to somewhere around ~CH132.

However, my 5GHz config screen looks like this:

(Transmission Rate is set to Auto and Channel Width to 20/40/80)

I know it's possible from an older thread I saw on this forum, where the settings page looked like this:

I already tried setting Channel Width to 20, the same as in the picture, but that didn't help.

Can anybody help me with this?
Thanks!

  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Was a saved config file loaded after v1.07 was applied?

You may want to go back to v1.06 and see if the channels are listed there, if so, let us know. There could be something wrong with v1.07 FW...

Factory reset, load the v1.06 .bin file, factory reset, don't load any saved config files and check the channel listing...

Sorry, I just realized I answered one of the previous questions incorrectly.
Out of the package, the router had F/W 1.04 and then it already had the issue.
After the F/W update and after a reset, the problem remained.

I've also installed a DIR-845L at my parents' house and that router has the same issue.

Could it perhaps be regional settings of some sort?

Possible...I would contact D-Link support for your region and see if those channels are listed...It's possible that something changed regarding them and may have been removed, or something is wrong.

Please phone contact D-Link support and ask for level 2 or higher support.

Please let us know if you find out anything.

Same problem here. Out of the box had the issue, after reflash to v1.07 nothing changed.
Bought the DIR-868L from Germany, had F/W v1.04, has P/N EIR868LMEU...A1E.
Reflashed with EU v1.07 (first reset, reflash, reset again).
I wonder, is there any official info what channels should be available for the EU firmware?

Thank you, but it does not appear to be the same issue... We are talking here about having only four channels on the 5GHz band - 36, 40, 44 and 48. Where are channels 52, 56, 60, 64; also missing are 100 - 140 - all of these should be allowed in EU.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and get immediate help and information on this.

There maybe regulations that differ from each region.

Need to find out what is supported officially. And if they are supported, then could be a faulty router.

Let us know how it goes.

Did the original poster get a solution to this?

I am also experiencing this problem - my DIR-868L will only transmit on the four channels mentioned here, none of which are compatible with my MacBook Pro 2012 - which means it will only connect to the 2.4GHz.

I'm not a 100% sure, but it seems to happen randomly.

Using Chrome (latest version 33.0.1750.152) for Mac.
Have emptied cache etc.
Have also tried Safari, same result (only four channels - 36, 40, 44, 48)

Using OS X 10.8.5.

Hardware version: A1
Firmware version: 1.07
Located in Europe (Norway).

Could you post a screen capture of the channels drop down for the 5Ghz radio please?
