Does the DIR-600 have voltage regulation?
Cause i noticed that the power supply i use is 12v 2.0a,
while DIR-600 says 5v 1.2a.

I totally forgot about that, but it hasn't broken or anything so is it safe?
I am crap when it comes to electricity.
But searching for it says it should break if there isn't any regulation somewhere.

I believe the 600 and 601s use the 5v 1.2a power supply. I would check the user manual for specs to be sure. If your using the 12v 2A power adapter then you could be using the wrong adapter and damaging the router.

yes it does use that power supply, like i mentioned:)

But i wonder why it works fine with 12 2a, used it for a while.
Therefore i wondered if it had a voltage regulation that changed it to 5v or something.

The 600 and 601 series are small end routers and don't need alot of wall power so I presume the lower power adapter is sufficient.

but isn't the power adapter over sufficient, it gives more power than it needs, that's what worries me if it doesn't regulate the voltage:o

Why getting the one specified would be recommended.

Indeed, i just wanted to know if it could regulate the power so it wasn't needed.
But i guess no one knows about those specifications.
Well such adapters i think cost like a new router here, so it's not that economical -_-.

Well i live in Europe so gonna cost a lot either way.
Ebay is not really worth it as it's risky with such electronics if it's not an original.

But well, will probably just use the 12v 2.0a and hope it doesn't break, if it has been able to withstand it for this long i doubt it will just stop now:P

I've bought replacement adapters from ebay and amazon before and they are either OEM or have the same spec.

Good Luck.

Amazon i can kinda get, but it's not cheap in Europe sadly, the problem is always shipping here, shipping adds a lot to the price which sucks xD.

Thanks:)!

Understand. You might contact D-link support and ask to see if they might be able to help you out.

Good Luck.
