You might have them set up static IP address ON the camera. Also set one on the printer as well. I use statics for printers outside of the DHCP IP address pool. Cameras as well.

As solace reported on Page 2, I also found that it was not possible to upgrade directly from the factory/shipping firmware 1.01.06 to the latest version (currently 1.12.00) .   Also, it was not possible to upload the firmware using Safari - I had to use Firefox on my Mac.

I had to connect directly to the web interface of the unit using it's IP address (hardwired in my case), and first upgrade to firmware 1.02.03 (found at ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DCS-2330L/REVA/DCS-2330L_REVA_FIRMWARE_1.02.03.ZIP ) .   That took about 3 minutes, and when the unit came back online, I logged into myDLink.com account and the unit reported (oddly) that it was using firmware 1.02.05 , and needed to be upgraded to 1.12.00 .   Using the upgrade button on the myDlink.com page, the unit was able to complete it's upgrade successfully, although the myDLink.com method required about 10 minutes to complete.  I have a feeling that upgrading from 1.01.06 to 1.02.03 and then to 1.12.00 using the device's web interface would be the fastest route.

Hope that helps.    D-Link tech staff should either modify the latest firmware to work with the shipping firmware's update utility, or they should modify the myDlink.com firmware update procedure to handle the incremental upgrade.

Thanks for the feedback and experience information. I'll post this up for cameras users.
In most cases users should upgrade from factory shipping FW as updates become available to help keep there HW up to date and avoid corner case issues like this. However in some cases where users don't check for updates and there cameras are working, then there maybe some update when going from shipping FW to most current when they do check for updates as they a few versions may have been released since they last checked, as in this case. D-Link usually advises on updating FW soon after updates are made available to help avoid isolated cases like this. Ya, you can use shipping FW and not upgrade in which if the camera works, then that's fine too. Users would just need to know that updating from shipping FW to more recent FW may not work unless you graduate shipping FW to the next version. Then as you experienced, then you can update to the most current version of FW.

I'll make a forum post for users who still are using shipping FW and upgrading to most current versions of FW.

Thank you.

I mentioned it because I just purchased a brand new DCS-2330L this week, and it arrived with the 1.02.03 firmware installed.  I have a feeling that Amazon's warehouse stock has plenty of these that will ship with the older firmware.

I have three of these cameras and fought with the firmware updates for the last 24 hours and just figured it out.

The Firmware update fails because /tmp (tmpfs) [where it uploads the firmware] doesn't have enough space.

Out of the box, /tmp is only 15M... which is ALMOST enough space for the v1.12 firmware, but not quite enough.

How to fix:

ssh to the dsc-2330l on port 8992
username: root
password: hi3518c
run the following command:
 mount -o remount,size=16M tmpfs /tmp/

Now go back to the web interface (I didn't try it through mydlink) and do the firmware update again.
This time your firmware update should succeed.
(Note: once you update to v1.12 ssh is no longer available on port 8992)

Thanks for posting your solution. Hope it helps future users.

I'm curious if doing a factory reset would resolve the temp out of space issue before attempting to load FW.

This maybe something users should contact D-Link support on the phone about if they can't get FW loaded.

Well, this camera really isnt out of beta is it.!!
Ive wasted a day trying to get it to work.
Great concept but the thing barely works out of the box.
- Imap emails not working in SSL/TLS mode.
Had to set to insecure mode.
- "Test Error" on NAS drive server ...
yes the settings are correct, even turned off router SPI firewall and enabled ALG for FTP,TFTP,H323 and RTSP.
- "Test Error" on FTP .
Same settings as for Filezilla that work  perfectly. but not with this pile of poop.

So was hoping that thwe update may have fixed the issues.
- Updates fail with 500 error, so tried the FuzzyNutz solution.
Used PuTTY to SSL and increase the temp disk size as instructed, all via LAN not WLAN.
Then uploaded the  v1.12 FW. This Bricked the camera and can no longer access it.
Tried resetting via the reset button, but nothing is happening, the camera is a BRICK.

My advice is: This camera is USELESS and will waste your life trying to get it to work.
The update to v1.12 does not work and even the users that have reported a successful update advise that the notification functionality is broken.
Avoid this product at all cost! Im sending this back for a refund.

Oh.. almost forgot to mention,, The CD that came with the camera was unreadable, had to DL the autorun.exe file instead... nuf said.

If you think the camera is bricked, try this:
 Emergency Recovery Mode

If this fails then, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

When doing any FW updates, I recommend that both camera and PC be LAN wired connected. Not wireless.
