Author Topic: Cannot access MS Exchange 2003 over DIR-857 via wifi using Android 4.3  (Read 8222 times)

I recently updated my phone to Android 4.3 from 4.2.2

Since the update, the phone will not connect to my Exchange 2003 server.

Works fine over 4G/3G.
Works fine with my Dlink 868 Router ....
Works fine over other wifi connections I have used ....

I've modified as many settings as possible with no luck ...

Suggestions? or is there a pending firmware to address the issue?

Im guessing it "could" be related http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=54160.0

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Was the Android working with the 857 before you updated it? If so, I presume it could be an Android issue more than D-Links.

The link is for Samsung devices and not sure if it effects Motorola devices...

Are the settings the same between the 857 and the 868L?

Does the android connect to other sources like Internet or other sites?

Is this the only issue that your seeing?

Link>Welcome!

Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion and Good Neighbour Policy
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • What wireless devices do you have connected?
  • Any cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Thanks for the reply.

Phone is a Samsung Note II

Worked fine with the router previously with Android 4.2.2

Hardware is A1.  F/W 1.04

Wireless settings are the same as my 868L.
Manual channel
AES is used (on both routers-so it works fine)
No other issues I can find ... phone access internet just fine.

I do note the WMM Enable is grayed out in advanced settings which I was gonna try based on the article above.

What happens if you switch to 20Mhz width and TPIK only on the 857 with the Samsung?

The WMM has always been grayed out...Not sure why...

I presume that if the Android worked on the previous OS with the 857 and then you updated it to the newer OS and you didn't change anything on the 857, possible something changed on the Android OS thats now making it incompatible with something on the 857...

One more test, disable WiFi security on the 2.4Ghz radio...Does Samsung connect to Internet?

Is the Samsung 5Ghz supporting?

Internet yes ..

Exchange connection ... no.

There's something that's not letting it through the router.

While I blame Samsung partially, Dlink is the one who needs to address this as it affects their routers.

Thanks for the tips.

I recommend that you phone contact D-Link support. Ask for level 2 or higher support and talk to someone about both phones using this model router. I don't have any Motorola or Samsung device so I can't help troubleshoot this so this is beyond forum help for now.

If you get thru, please get a Case # and PM me please. I'll see if we can get some information from my contact at D-Link.

Keep us posted.

I solved the problem myself.

After monitoring the connections on my server, the number of requests being sent by the DIR-857 was exceeding the specified limit allowed on my server.

I examined the logs, increased the limits dramatically and the connection worked.
