Title: DSL-2730U any kind of traffic control or monitoring?
Post by: f3ryx on June 21, 2019, 04:45:06 AM
Hi
I have a DSL-2730U with Firmware Version:ME_1.06 and I was wondering if there's any way I can control traffic use of other users on my network since I'm on a limited monthly traffic and my sister thinks the internet fairy buys our monthly plan and decides to use 60GB on her phone in 20 days!! any way I can limit her use or at least monitor how much she's using?
I've googled it for this model but it's easier to find a hitman than finding traffic control for this model!

I believe DSL modems don't offer any kind of monitoring of data and traffic. If nothing is listed in the user manual, I recommend that you bridge the modem and connect a external router that has better traffic monitoring features. Some routers have some traffic monitoring features and control features.

D-Link routers have control features however only provide a overall traffic data monitoring or live usage reports with out having any kind of controls over it. Netgear routers have more advanced monitoring controls and traffic data features that you may want to check out. I don't know if ASUS routers have similar features. Something you may have to review each router MFr and see what would work best for you.

thanks for the reply, after hours of searching I kinda figured out if there's an option for that it wouldn't be so hard to find! but I thought it wouldn't hurt to take a shot at it here too!
I read somewhere that Asus routers support custom firmware and they have a lot of options for traffic control.
