Motion detection area doesn't work/broken

I have set motion detection area in Mydlink app however movement WAY outside this area always creates a notifications.
See my screenshots showing the small detection area I set on my doorstep yet passing pedestrian WAY outside this area (and even cars on the road) will trigger motion detection notifications.
I'm an IT Pro, have multiple cameras, have rebooted/restarted/applied all updates to app & firmware so believe the detection area setting is broken.
Can anybody else confirm this?

BTW how do you attach screenshots... clicked the "Insert image" icon but it just inserted "img" tags so had to use a Dropbox URL.
