« on: September 06, 2016, 04:35:27 PM »

Hello everyone

Just curious if you guys are able to export your videos with time stamp included. If so, please share how you configure your export to include time stamp.

Thank you.

Do you mean the camera's OSD?  Or the OSD with the dnr202l?

Sorry, not at pc, will look later what I see.

hey man

not sure what OSD stands for but when i exported the video and checked the boxes for watermark and osd...im still getting just the regular video with no time stamp

btw., i use original format to export since its way faster than exporting the AVI option....which is really weird because the original format is actually AVI....which begs the questions what is the difference between the AVI export option and the Original Format export option?

The odd thing is - the original looks like the original image and is VERY small file.  The "AVI (MS Video 1)" blows the files up and has less details.  It's all blocky, even at excellent quality.

OSD = on screen display.

I enabled the OSD and got the timestamp for AVI (MS Video1).., and it is overtop of the camera's OSD.

I don't think you will get it in original export.  Turn on your camera's date/time stamp (OSD).

On playback in the DNR 202L you see time stamps. But on individual cams the 9xx series has time stamps but the 5xxx do not. And it appears there is no option to enable it. Maybe this has to do with the model of cam you have.

You are logged directly into the 934L and see the date/timestamps?

You see it in mydlink.com or mydlink lite app?

It could be that the 934L streams without it. (not sure if it does h264 or mjpeg, etc).

I don't have a 934L to test with.

Given most cams are used for surveillance and therefore possibly crucial evidence that would assist 5-0, it seems odd for DLINK to redact it from the recorded video streams. Lacks common sense IMO.

In a way you're right

I dont see it in live view from mydlink.com but i see it in advance setting of the cam live view

Also in 202l cam OSD enable it displays everything except for the odd thing about the cam name....instead of Cam 1 for example, it shows DCS-934L

I think it has something to do with the export

It only export the image minus any bits that are non-image. The info is recorded in the hard drive and i can play it back offline with time stamp using HDD Viewer from dlink.  It sucks though that the time stamp is not embedded in the image itself which means if i have to share video with others, it means i have to bring the hard drive and a computer with hdd viewer installed or the other party have to install hdd viewer in their computer.

Btw, i tried the export function using the hdd viewer, the feature is there but its either non-functional or not working. Snapshot in hdd viewer works but same issue, no time stamp.

IMO if the video has no time stamp and you have to rely on he DNR to display time and date it leaves lots of holes for he defense to punch into use of your video as evidence. This is a major flaw.  Most pro security cams show time and date on the videos regardless of player. The time and date should be cast in stone once a video is recorded. This is a Mickey Mouse offense if you plan to use the video in court IMO.
