Lost ping on DWA 160
« on: January 11, 2015, 03:49:27 PM »

I have a problem with ping. (dwa160 rev. B) Ping lost approximately every 15 seconds. Latest drivers. This effect occurs both at 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz. The signal is strong. The access point Zyxel kinetic ultra. Win 7 x64. What can be done? Unable to play or work. Sorry for the english, I'm from Russia.

Link>Welcome!

Are you using the latest drivers for the adapter from D-Links web site?

Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion and Good Neighbour Policy
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

Test the adapter on a different WiFi AP source, say at a friend or families place to see if it still happens.

Good day!

// Are you using the latest drivers for the adapter from D-Links web site?
Yes.

// Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not
// something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Done.

// What wireless modes are you using?
WPA2, 20/40, auto channel. Maybe you mean somthing else?

// Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
Yes i have Mac Book AIR and Samsung galaxy note3 on my 5 Ghz and two computers and xbox360 on 2.4 Ghz. Its work fine. One of computer with DWA-131.
If i take DWA-131 in my computer its also work fine. Problem just with DWA-160. All other devices work perfectly.

// Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.
Its 4 routers on 2.4 Ghz and no one except my on 5 Ghz.

// Test the adapter on a different WiFi AP source, say at a friend or families place to see if it still happens.
Test my DWA-160 on Dlink DIR 300 AP with my computer. Its the same problem there.

Thank you.

If other devices work in place of the DWA-160, I would presume the 160 maybe faulty.

I have solve the problem. Perhaps my decision someone come in handy. I had to disable the windows update service and built-in firewall service. Updates i can do by hand and instead built-in firewall I have my own antivirus. Very strange that it is only DWA-160 responded to these services. But the fact remains.

Thank you all!
