Firmware 2.0 for Rev A?
« on: December 15, 2014, 07:36:26 AM »

Hi eveyone:

I've just seen that the 2.0 firmware for Rev B allows to activate "Windows File Sharing" for the USB-connected HDD. That, I presume, will allow to interact with the HDD vía regular Windows Explorer. You can seee the screen-shot here:

http://www.dlink.com/es/es/support/faq/routers/mydlink-routers/dir-868l/how-do-i-access-the-usb-media-that-is-connected-to-my-router
Step 2.3

Question is, will we, Rev A users, get firmware 2.0? I do not seem to be able to find this option in the "old" firmware (that's v1.09, by the way, here in Spain).
Does anyone know any other option to access the USB-connected HDD just like a regular network drive?

Link>Welcome!

Rev B FW is for Rev B HW models and does not work on Rev A model routers.

The suggested FW to use for your region will be v1.08 and located here:
http://www.dlink.com/es/es/support/product/dir-868l-wireless-ac1750-dual-band-gigabit-router?revision=deu_reva#downloads

v1.09 has not been released for your region.

Hi FurryNutz:

Thanks for the link and the FW appreciation. I'll check it later at home, I just updated the FW yesterday and can't really remember if it was 8 or 9.

But the question remains in the air: what about FW2.0 for Rev A? Will it be availabe in the foreseable future?

Thanks!

D-Link does not make Rev B FW available for Rev A HW.

OK, thanks. Guess that means we won't see it. Pitty.

I know HW variations from Rev A to B are not public, but I was just wondering what can be so different to make different FW mandatory.

Try the link I included to see if you can access the USB HDD.
