Trying to get WOL over the internet working
« on: December 24, 2013, 09:32:29 AM »

How do I force the router to broadcast the magic packet?

Seems to work on other router models with the virtual server page
http://www.entroducing.com/view/wake-on-lan-with-dlink-dir-655-over-the-internet

On this model, once i shut down the machine, the router will flush its arp cache in about 30 seconds. Before the arp cache gets flushed, WOL works.

After the arp cache gets flushed, WOL stops working. My guess is once it gets flushed, the router skips that mac address in the broadcast. (yea i modified the javascript to get it to broadcast to 192.168.0.255).

Can try this:

Also check to see if there is a WOL preset under Port Forwarding or Virtual Server.

Try setting up a VS or PF rule and see.

Over all, this router may not support WOL. You might phone contact D-Link support and ask them specifically what this router supports.

Keep us posted.
