Title: Should I install the new DHP 50U driver and how?
Post by: gotti on August 09, 2009, 11:42:38 AM
I use the original DHP 50U driver from the CD. Uninstalled it and tried to install the V1.01 driver.
Unplugged the unit's USB cable first and the install process began but never prompted me to plug USB in.
The installation failed, so I reinstalled V1.00 [I tried this twice]

Does V1.01 fix any problems?
How should I install it? [I double clicked on setup.exe]

I have Win XP SP3

instead of the new DHP 50U driver I installed the US Robotics driver. The file name is 9620-V.1.30.08UR01.zip
and you get it here http://www.usr.com/support/product-template.asp?prod=9620

instructions are on that page.

It solved 2 problems: dropped skype calls and inability to set skype microphone volume to 'high' in the skype software.

After the USRobotics driver installation the skype audio settings show "USRobotics virtual audio"

I got the tip on this on Amazon under D-link DPH 50U user comments

PS: after several calls to landlines none were dropped but the volume dropped suddenly while I called overseas. Don't know if this is a skype problem or adapter problem. The recipient of my call reported no volume problems.
