Title: Unbelievable, my three 2132Ls updated themselves without user intervention!
Post by: Popovice on September 18, 2015, 10:01:18 AM
That is really what happened. The latest FW version for RevA is 1.06.01 and all of my three DCS-2132L cameras have now been updated to this version even though I'm absolutely sure that I have never pressed the "Update Now" button at the web interface or at the smartphone application. The good thing is that all the cameras are still up and running. It is so very stupid that D-Link even offers this update option for the remote cameras, because according to their specific instructions the FW update via a wireless connection is strictly forbidden.

What comes to the 1.06.01 FW version itself it seems that the image quality has again gone worse, i.e. the image is very grainy and the blockiness can be very easily seen even though the settings and data connection are exactly the same as before. Does anybody have an idea how to disable the FW updates and notifications permanently? I personally do not have any need to update the FW ever as long as the cameras are working reliably.

You seem to have a VERY old firmware version. As said, the latest for RevA camera is 1.06.01 and during the 2.5 years I have played with these cameras there has been at least 1.00.06, 1.01.09, 1.01.10, 1.02.00, 1.03.09, 1.04.02 and 1.05.02 versions officially available.

Looks like that 1.07.02 FW is available for RevA, at least mydlink web-interface suggest to update.
I still have version 1.05.02. Anyone know the place where I can find release notes for these new (1.06.01, 1.07.02, etc) FWs ?
I try to find fixed errors list before updating my camera.

From the d-link support page I can find 1.05.02 only.

For some reason posting of the release notes doesn't come at the same time. I presume they will post notes soon though. Keep an eye on it.

Thanks for posting info about v1.07.

My experience about 1.07.01 FW is not so good.
Just before I leave my place I upgraded that and with my lucky camera not send email when motion detection triggers. Damn.
And now Iam remote, not sure when I could test that locally.
When I test that (Event setup --> Server --> Test), it gave error. And before you say anything I didn't change any settings
before and after FW update.  Well done D-link.

Try a factory reset and set up from scratch to see of the problem continues?

I think this is same problem than with revB:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63439.0

Again I have to say that D-link testing process is totally ****. I can't even remember how many times this happened, same code changes to every model
and after that they think that if the change working in one specific model, it's not necessary to test every product.

Here is only newest (1.07) fw:
https://www.mydlink.com/download#DCS-2132L

Do you know where I can find v1.05.02 ?

EDIT:
and here http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DCS-2132L newest fw is 1.04

I recommend if your camera works while on a certain version of FW, don't udpate. You don't have too. "If it works, don't fix it."

Try this:

Thanks a lot. E-mail alarms works again.

True, if we talking about d-link devices.
Normally Iam so optimistic, that if I get update for some device, I really think that I get improvement to some functionality or whole new feature.
