Bring back Connect button
« on: April 23, 2020, 01:33:23 PM »

Hello, prior to 1.20 firmware version I remember that there was a Connect button in the Internet section. Not sure why it was removed but actually the button and the functionality are still there. If you inspect the element the button is there with display: none and can be manually activated but is annoying.

I need that button back because my ISP resets my IP and connection every 12 hours (no idea why, but it has been that way for years) so that button was very useful to me if I wanted to reconnect and avoid getting disconnected in the middle o***aming session or long browser download.

My solution until I noticed that was to reset the router every time which is very annoying since it takes like 3 minutes.

Not sure why that button became hidden but all you have to do is make it visible again since the functionality is still there and is very useful.

Thanks.

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Have you tried setting a reboot schedule for the 12 hour period.

The button may have been removed as handshaking with most modems is automatic and should auto reconnect. Possible how the ISP is resetting the connection is causing problems. They say why there doing this every 12 hours? I've never seen this before unless your line has a problem.

What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

What browser are you using?

Thanks for the response. Just to clarify, the router successfully and automatically reconnects after the ISP resets the connection every 12hs. It is annoying to me because sometimes I forget at what time is supposed to do it so it will disconnect me. The auto reboot option is not really a solution to what I want (fast reconnect on demand).

The button was useful as a quick way to reconnect (under 15 seconds) without resetting the router (takes like 2 minutes) so if I was close to 12hs of connection I could avoid getting disconnected in the middle of game for example.

I know is not an important request but I was curious as why it was hidden in the first place since the functionality is still there and working fine.

I use FF 75.0 but I tried on Chrome and Edge and they display the page the same way.

My router info:
Model Name: DIR-882
Hardware Version: A1
Firmware Version: 1.20

Thanks.

You can try updating FW to v1.30 and see if its there. If not, you'll have to set a reboot schedule. Even if D-Link were to fix it, it will take them months to release something. And with world events happening, this has already delayed development for everyone. So nothing forth coming in the months ahead.
Ask your ISP to stop resetting the connection unless it's there SOP.

You can contact D-Link support and ask them about this.
