What a hassle.

Ok so since I already had my COVR-2600 router online I thought lets try the USB drive on it.

All successful access.
One thing I noticed is that on the 2600s USB status page, the entire usb drive name is fully displayed. Something that the DIR0882 doesn't display. Just partial.

So then connected my PC to the DIR-882 along with the USB drive. For some reason I could not get the USB drive to be seen in networking. I rebooted both USB drive and 882.

So I thought maybe the router was in a bad state so I did a factory reset on it and skipped the wizard. Enabled Samba and saw the drive being access. Eventually I was able to access the drive using the Map Drive, use other credentials and browsing to the USB drive. The USB drive name is not fully seen in the UI. Only partial.

I ran some speed tests with a 2Gb file doing a Read then a couple of Writes from my Windows 10 PC:

Read from USB seems pretty good.

Write to USB started out at around 7-8Mb. Then I noticed it sped up to around 30Mb. Not sure what caused the initial slow Write speed.

D-Link HQ has replicated the slow upload speed issue and have sent it to the vendor/engineers to see if this is a chip limitation or something fixable with firmware. I do not expect a response back until after Chinese new year (they are off work 1/23-1/29).

D-Link has confirmed this is a hardware issue and cannot be fixed via firmware unfortunately. It is a memory issue.

I have the same problem with map the hard disk under Windows 10 and writing a support. They answered me today.

Dear Sir,

Because of the limitation on Win10 the SMB sharing is working just with enabled SMB1 sharing at Windows Features (see attached screen).

After enabling and restart the PC you can map the connected usb device. Also you should enable the SMB sharing on the router.

Please also be sure that use the newest fw: ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-882/driver_software/DIR-882_fw_reva_122b04_ALL_multi_20191010.zip

Thank you for networking with D-Link .

For now I only updated the firmware, later I will try again by running smb1protocol and check if something has changed since the last time I did it.

I've been testing and working, but on one condition right now. Currently, i can only map as network drive if i only have an admin user. If I make another user with a password, etc. i can not. When I delete a user account the hard disk is immediately visible on the map as network drive.

Same Issue here, Plugged in the Buffalo HDD to my Dlink DIR 882 on USB 3.0 and only achieved 7 MB/sec write speed.

Unable to open port 21 for FTP.

Setup:
I have a remote location running a web cam server. I had an old homebrew AMD64 PC running Windows 7 that I had set up and everything worked well. The web server used nginx and I had five cameras on the web site page. I had Filezilla FTP Server running and was able to FTP the server to upload and download files from a couple of off site Pcs. (Linux Ubuntu desktop with Fillzilla Client and a Windows 8 laptop with Core FTP LE Client)
A couple of weeks ago we had a heavy wet spring snow storm which caused massive power outages. Three days later with power restored I booted the server and it went to boot repair. Long story short, the HDD was flaky and dying. So I bought a Optiplex 2070 and began rebuilding the server.

The server is in a remote location with cable ISP to MODEM, cat5 to a Linksys EA2700 running DD-WRT, and cat5 to the server. The server is a Dell Optiplex 7020 running a fresh load of Windows 7 Pro and updates. benefits of waist beads(Thanks to Windows Seven on how to do the updates). Web software is nginx 1.17.10 and is running well. I can use Remote Desktop to connect to the server from my Ubuntu desktop and the Windows 8 laptop. The router has Port Forward set for the web server, Remote Desktop, and a web cam wired through a router port.

Here is the problem:
I am unable to connect to the server using FTP.
I have scoured the net for three days trying to find out why I can not connect with no luck.
I have tried:
Forwarded router ports 21, 990, 50000 – 51000.
FTP with and without TLS.
Set access through Windows firewall – no luck.
Disabled Windows firewall – no luck.
Verified clients OK by FTP to other sites.
Verified FTP and Filezilla are enabled in Widows firewall advanced settings.
Checked open ports with “Canyouseeme.org”, ports show open for Web and Desktop, port 21 FAILS.
Deleted and reinstalled Flezilla.
Tried different FTP and loaded Quick&EasyFTP.

Example of Client error:
note – port xxx21 is forwarded to port 21 on the server.
Resolving xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com...
Connect socket #1172 to xxx.xxx.xxx.169, port xxx21...
Can't establish connection --> xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com:xxx21 @ Wed May 06 14:04:56 2020 (0-5)
Connection Failed

Tried telnet to the server on port 21 and it also fails.

Is there something simple I overlooked?
Any help would be appreciated.
