Title: Packet Loss
Post by: bsolah on August 16, 2019, 07:28:04 AM
Had the 882 for a couple of months now, upgraded from a Netgear that was having strange drop outs for months, but now I've got a different problem with the 882. Sometimes my wifi signal to my phones won't load certain things. For a week, I couldn't access Twitter off my phone via wifi, and now sometimes insta stories won't load via wifi and have to use 4G. A while ago a tech guy had me play with wifi channels and it seemed to fix some other issues namely my partner not being able to connect to the network printer.

But the main issue is that I'm getting some packet loss when playing games. There's a weird bug when playing Apex legends and can't work out if it's the router or my ISP and my ISP has been really unhelpful so hoping it's something with the router.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Is smart connect enabled?

What all devices do you have connected to the router? Wireless and wired?

Happened to me on my DIR-867 (same vendor as the 882) after a few months - apps like instagram just would not load. Tried all settings and firmware upgrades. No luck.

What brand/model phone/tablets do you have and what exact OS is on it? Make sure you've updated to the latest version.

This has been mostly a iOS issue but I have seeing it now with Android.

If other apps and non-wireless devices work without packet loss, it is most likely the wifi connection between the router and client, not the ISP.
