Title: DIR-822 Drops Internet Regularly
Post by: Taz145 on October 28, 2018, 12:28:50 PM
I just recently purchased a DIR-822 and it has consistently dropped the internet connection ever since it was set up. The connection will be solid and then without warning, both the 2ghz and the 5ghz WiFi networks will disappear and it will take ~1 minuet before devices can reconnect. When this happens the only light on the router will be the power light, all others are out. I called my ISP (start.ca) and a tech told me that UNpN could affect the connection so I now have that disabled along with every setting under the ALG configuration heading. This has not fixed the issue yet. I have cable internet with 150mbs/10mbs upload/download and the modem is a Hitron CDA3. Any help would be great and please let me know if more information is needed.

Sounds like the router is rebooting...  :-\

Do you have any 5GHz wireless devices connected? If so what?

What firmware are you running? Open browser and go to 192.168.0.1/version.txt and tell me the internal firmware version and date. If you changed the local ip address of the router use that instead of 192.168.0.1.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
