External IR Lamp
« on: January 01, 2016, 05:54:08 PM »

Hi.

I just purchased a D-Link DCS-2330L.  In order to get a picture of my entire back porch, I mounted it on the opposite side of the house.

This works well for daylight viewing, but not at night.

Could anyone recommend an external IR lamp I could put on the porch that would help with night vision?

TIA

Hmmmm,  my application isn't outdoors, but I bought 2 ir's from tiger direct (which appears to be going under even further? ).,, I think I posted somewhere here about it. Those things run very hot,but do deliver. Clover was the brand.  The build is good, it's just alot of heat. I bought then 2013.

So your 2016 guess is just as well. .

Didn't test with 2330l  (2230 tested)....
And in low noise night mode was very good.

I posted about this awhile back.  Have a look at this thread for information on the one I bought.  It has been working well.

Thanks to you both for the suggestions.

cmonthyburns - I found what looks to be the same one you purchased on Amazon, but the power supply suggested is for indoor only.

Not sure what type of power supply I would need to use in an outdoor outlet - any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Good point about the power supply.  I have an indoor-rated supply because the lamp is mounted on the side of my garage, and I've run the power to an outlet inside the garage.  Not sure what to suggest for an outdoor power supply.  Perhaps just get an outdoor outlet cover like this one?

I have used both of the following and theyre good. The only problem is the angle isnt wide enough but they (actually just the second/bigger one) have a 50 yard range or so and help alot
