What is the largest size HDD the DNS-323 supports?
- The DNS-323 supports HDDs up to 2TB in size.
Does the DNS-323 support AFT (Advanced Format Technology) HDDs?
- Yes. The DNS-323 supports AFT HDDs up to 2TB in size
- Enabling AFT support requires upgrading the DNS-323 firmware to version 1.10
- The DNS-323 may not support all AFT HDD makes/models. Before purchasing an AFT HDD, please refer to the HDD compatibility information on the D-Link USA website (http://www.dlink.com/) and posts on the DNS-323 board (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=155.0) for DNS-323 owner experiences with different AFT HDD makes and models
Suggested Strategy (As offered by the DNS-323 user community)
Many DNS-323 owners on this board observed that firmware v1.09 is the most stable firmware version available and recommend the following strategy/procedure for formatting AFT HDDs and using the DNS-323:
- Use firmware version 1.09 for daily operation (most stable firmware. No AFT support)
- Temporarily upgrade to firmware version 1.10 to format AFT HDDs (only firmware version supporting AFT HDD formatting)
- Format AFT HDDs
- Downgrade firmware to version 1.09 for daily operation (will not impact already formatted AFT HDDs)
Notes
- Upgrading and downgrading DNS-323 firmware should not impact existing HDD formatting or data
