Title: Out of focus
Post by: Jrblack100 on May 04, 2013, 03:39:45 PM
I have installed two 2310L's...one is perfect but the other is out of focus.  I have checked to be sure the face is clean and have moved the camera to see if there is an auto-focus type feature...no change.

I looked at a picture of the product, it appears there is no manual focus ring on the camera.  The 5222L has a manual focus ring.

Have you tried turning down the MAX GAIN on the image?

I did discover the bit rates are different.  The working 2310 has a bit rate around 3000 kbps and the out of focus 2310 is at 400 kbps.  All the camera settings are identical though...?

Have you tried turning off the 3000kbps camera?

Then reset the slow camera or something?  Just to see if it negotiates at a higher rate?

You are using fixed quality?

What and how are you viewing with? The firmware? D-view cam Windows software? d-view cam mobile? mydlink.com website? mydlink lite on app store? or whatever else.. lol

Have done a reset.  Also disconnected the other 2310.  No change.

Yes, fixed quality.

Viewing on PC over home network through the camera's IP address.

Do they both have the same firm ware?

And also - switch locations.. maybe camera slow is in a poor WiFi reception area??

My bad, it's a POE camera.

Anyways, switch locations.  The ethernet cable might be too long, or the cat # isn't rated for the higher speeds.

That's the oddest part of all.

Both camera's hooked PoE.  The good one is on a 100' cable and the poor one is on a 50' cable.  (Both running through the same PoE switch.)

So are you going to switch the cams to prove it is 50ft wire problem, or the cam?

Very close to solution here.

Hopefully, 50ft line isn't kinked.

Nope.  I even tried a new cable.  No difference.

Nope to what? the link kinking or your refusal to switch cameras and verify it's not the camera?

If you return the camera and get another one, and it's still the same problem, then forget it.

Refusal?

No to kinking cable.

UPDATE...
Tested five 2310's.  Two had the focus problem.  They have been returned.

Two new 2310's received...all five (not four) working well.  Kudos to Amazon for easy returns and replacement shipping.
