Title: HP network printer Warning RULE 6000051
Post by: trold1964 on January 27, 2010, 05:13:46 AM
I have an HP network printer.

On my DFL-210 status logging.

2010-01-27
12:30:56   Warning   RULE
6000051   Default_Rule   UDP   lan   192.168.1.105
239.255.255.250   1900
1900   ruleset_drop_packet
drop

When the calls are stopped the following info is recorded in the firewall log.

Severity: Warning
Category: RULE
ID: 6000051
Protocol: UDP
Event: ruleset_drop_packet
Action: drop

I think I'll create an IP Rules

Is there someone who can help me to make an IP Rules to my network printer?

This is the normal multicast dropping logs, you will see similar logs created from all your PCs running Windows or OS X (I don't honestly know offhand how much MDNS announcement Linux distros perform).  You can either create a rule dropping multicast, or configure IGMP in your firewall, or change the advanced settings on the firewall so that it drops such traffic silently.
