Slow Viewing DCS-942L but not in DCS-5222L
« on: May 31, 2016, 06:47:54 PM »

Hi, I have DCS-5222LB for about a month now and viewing is smooth and video is not stuttering outside home network. I also tried to play around video profile 1 so i can optimize viewing via my phone, and it works.

Then I have DCS-942LB for 1.5 years now. But when viewing outside home network, video is in slow motion, skipping frames, etc. Still you can view but not smooth compared to 5222L. 942L also disconnects from time to time.

Now my situation is, I have 942L for quite sometime now and I assume that the slowness was due to my ISP. But I think it's not the case since viewing is ok with 5222L. Also I tried to play on Video Profile for mobile device (profile 4) it does not work.

Any advice?

Are they both wireless?  Try wiring the 942.  That would point to a wireless issue.

Or turn OFF the 5222L and test and see...
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
How many other wireless devices do you have connected to the main host router?
  • Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner to find out. How many?

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

both wired. 942L connected in main ISP modem/router (BaudTec RN243R4 PLDT router). 5222L connected to secondary router (DIR-600 cascaded to the main). both assigned with static IP.

never used wireless the entire time except when i tried it the first time, but wired ever since.

the behavior for 942L was the same even before I got the 5222L

I'm from Manila, Philippines.

I will try the Port Forwarding and test but any other suggestions? Thanks!

Might try putting the 942L on the 600 series router and test.

i was able to resolve this by playing around the video profiles. though it is mentioned in the audio video settings the video Profile 4, all settings will be updated except for the Video Quality. the video quality is dependent on Profile 1.

not sure if this a bug, or should be the right setting for the camera. thanks for you help!

It might have been relevant at one point in time when the app was on v1 and networks were worse than 3g, and before phones could handle h264.

The earliest mydlink app I have is 2.5.

Maybe a bandwidth and mode issue here. Maybe one of the profiles is using a nigher band width or lower band width and what ever mode it's in now, seems to have smoothed things out. Sounds like you got it working.
Enjoy.  ;)
