WiFi Power Measurement Utility
« on: July 24, 2009, 09:17:31 AM »

Hey Forum,

There's a post on this forum indicating a user has an Atheros client installed that allows an actual power measurement (in milliwatts) of the signal from a router.  That seems preferable to the more common 'gauge' showing signal strength by bar or pie graphs as a simple percentage.  Unfortunately the Atheros utility doesn't work with my Intel wi-fi card.

Is there a downloadable utility available (other than the afore mentioned Atheros) that shows the broadcast signal strength as a true power measurement?  If so what's it called and where's it available for download?

Thanks  :)

I've used both NetStumbler and inSSIDer.  I like inSSIDer better myself.

Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector  is another "good" GUI tool:
