Title: 404 Redirect
Post by: macdjord on March 17, 2012, 09:18:36 PM
Every time I get a 404 error, I get redirected to http://dlinkrouter/error-404.htm, which is a page saying "Oops! The page you requested is not avilable[sic]", with a few inane 'Make sure your internet cable is plugged into the router' suggestions.
How do I turn off this misfeature? It is quite irritating, since it means I can't see what URL the 404 was for. Worse, since it's returning a valid HTML file instead of an error-404, my browser will cache this page, making it very complicated to try to reload the offending page later.

Note: I do not have Advanced DNS Services enabled.

Hardware Version : B1
Firmware Version : 2.00NA

What region are you located?

:-\ Um, no offense, but did you even read my message before posting that reply? I'm not having connection issues. There is nothing wrong with the wifi, or with the router's connection to the internet.
My problem is that, when I try to go to a URL that does not exist, e.g. http://no.such.url (http://no.such.url), instead of seeing a 'Could not find the sever specified' page, I get redirected to http://dlinkrouter/error-404.htm (http://dlinkrouter/error-404.htm).
I'm confident that this issue is cause by the router, not by the ISP, since it is redirecting to a page served by the router itself.

Is this the most current version of FW for your region and device?

Sorry about the delay; the email got spamfiltered.

I am in Canada.

I don't know if this is the latest firmware. I'm using version 2.00NA, but the newest shown on the product webpage (http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=737 (http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=737)) is 1.02NA.

I would verify your current version your using and model of this router.
What HW is this router? Look at the sticker under the router.
I believe there isn't any v2.00 version of FW for this router.

Yah I too have exactly the same problem. I have HW B1 and FW 2.00. I am in India and bought D-Link DIR 601 in USA on line from Amazon. I have DSL DHCP connection.

I have raised this isuue in other thread also. (DIR-601 HW Rev B1, FW 2.00NA drops connection to the internet)

I will not explain it here as exactly the same "Oops" 404 problem is there.

Exact same problem for me.  The redirect completed ****s up my history and I lose the URL I was going to.  This is extremely annoying and a major PITA.  What do I have to do to remove this bug?  I just got my router so this sort of thing shouldn't be happening.

Oh, and thanks for pointing out that there's even a *spelling* mistake on the page!  Top notch that!
