****EDIT:  I removed the network I use from "Manage Wireless Networks" and then re-entered my information.  So far it's been working but I'll have to monitor it.

So, I got my refurbished 857 in today.  It came loaded with FW v1.01 and I had issues with that FW with my first 857, so I immediately flashed it to 1.02.  For a few hours it worked flawlessly, but then the wifi tends to hang and slows drastically.

My LT doesn't lose signal connection but wifi connection to the internet slows horribly.  I did a speedtest and got 0.23 down and 1.7 up.  I normally get 30+ down and 4.1x up.

If I reboot the router it fixes the slow issue for a while but then starts to drag again.

I thought it might have been a corrupted 1.02 download because I save the FW files in a folder.  So I downloaded a "fresh" copy and it made no difference.  I reset the router to factory, waited a bit till it booted back up, flashed it on a wired connection (never wireless) waited until the GUI appeared and I could access the router again and did a factory reset again.

My wife's LT is experiencing the same slow issue.

What radio are you connected too? 2.4 or5Ghz?
Forgot if you had other WiFi routers near by or not. Something might be interfering with the radio on 2.4Ghz. Got anything using 5Ghz to test?

I'm only on 2.4Ghz, no 5Ghz other than an XBOX with the wifi adapter.

I do have that AT&T RG that is broadcasting G band but it's never interfered before.  I could probably turn off it's signal since we don't have internet through UVerse.

I very unhappy with this router. It gets super hot and then the wifi and internet just dies. I have 1.02  firmware installed. My ISP is Charter 100mbs download and 5mbs upload . I bought it because it said it can run everything you have in your house and it fails badly. 5ghz never works for my 3 Xbox 360's . Why did they make it so you can't stand it up so it can run cooler ??? D-link need to show some pride and fix the issues with router please !!!!

Vampero, these routers normally work great.  I think I might have gotten a refurb that checked out "OK" but with use (hours of use) begins to show it's quirks.  Please call DLink tech support and have them troubleshoot yours.

My first one, loaded with the original firmware (1.00) ran flawlessly and we have almost 20 devices connected though usually no more than 8 at one time.

Furry, I woke up this morning to find that it wouldn't connect to my wifi.  I went to bed with it working fine.  I had to do the unplug for 30 seconds and let the router reboot thing.

Here's what I have enabled:

Wireless:

2.4Ghz mixed N and G
Channel width auto 20/40
WPA2 PSK AES

5Ghz N only with same security as 2.4Ghz

Network Settings:
DHCP Server enabled with default settings

Advanced: QoS engine:
WAN Traffic Shaping Enabled
QoS engine not enabled

Firewall settings default with anti-spoof enabled

Advanced Network:

WAN Port speed set at 1000 MBPS
Multicast Streams: enabled

Everything else default except I configured the Time settings.

I turned off short GI just now and will monitor.

Kargo, let me know if you wanna to teamview and have a review of your router.

Either something on the router isn't quiet set right, any PC settings like the WiFi profile might need to be checked out, or there is some interferences maybe. Possible that you maybe got a bum return too.  ::)

If needed, we could swap 857s if you want too. Not using mine at the moment. See if this problem follows.  ::)

PM me info.  ;)

So far, stable!  Usually I'd see some slowness issue by now.    :)  Thanks bud.  You may have to tell me what to turn back on one at a time to test what was giving me the issue.

Well, scratch that.

We went out for about an hour and when we got back the router wasn't broadcasting any signal.  None.  I had to reboot it and now it's up and working.

Factory reset and set up router from scratch. If you exibit the same thing, return RMA im thinking. Unless you want me to test it out.

I think I'll factory reset (for the 4th time now at least) and re-configure as one last shot.  I'm thinking there was a reason someone returned this router and probably because of the issues I'm seeing.
