Title: DNS-323 - NEW HDD Compatibility from 2017 (recent Drives)
Post by: raoul on November 25, 2019, 11:54:10 PM
Hello, i think there is the need of a new compatibilty List for drive from 2017 (available on market).

I tried to get support from Dlink EU, but the only things i get was to "replace with same present before on your DNS" (not available now).
When i reask for a drive on market, they answer with "from a better search we find this compatibilty list.." the gave the list they compile in 2010....

So i want to ask to all of you who buy new HDD that are compatible to write it down!

thank you to all!!!

Hello, i'm very sad about your answer, that are the reasons:

-I just write to Dlink Italian and Australian support asking for drive to replace available (now) on market and they answer with a compatibility list wrote on 2010 (they answered without read my inquiry!)
-I just write a post (NEW) to have a renewed list of supported device (i ask to user that changed drive from 2017), and you cannot reply with same compatibility list with just some little changes from 2010, this is not the scope of the post.

If we just start dirty the post this will became unusable.

This post will help me and all people that use up to now DNS 323, and want continue to use it.
I exspected that reply just collect post from DNS 323 user that replace HDD from 2017 and found that drive installed is working.

thank you all for your patience!

The current and historical drive list is the best place to keep track of all supported drives in one location regardless of date. Most drives should work. Also this model DNS is end of life so probably won't be much if any other users posting about drives. Hasn't been mush user posting over the years in regards to this. So for best placement of information, we like to keep all information in one place.

Thank you.

I found that most Western DIgital RED EFRX model HDDs work well in D-LInk DNS units. I have a DNS 345 loaded with now 2x4Tb HDDs. Use as a backup of a backup system. Other DNS 345 will be getting two of the same here soon. Zero issues.

I have replaced one of my 10years old WD Caviar Green (640 GB) a week ago in my DNS-323.

The new HDD I bought was WD20EFRX (2TB) and it works well. I was deciding between WD20EFRX and WD20EFAX however was not able to find any information whether EFAX serie is OK to use with DNS-323 so I rather chose EFRX. However if somebody can advise on WD EFAX HDDs I would be grateful as I suppose the second old HDD in my unit will die soon as well.

Haven't experienced nor have seen anyone post about EFAX model drives. One would have to see if they could buy one with a good return policy and test it out on a DNS unit. For the most part I wold stick with EFRX models.
