DNS-323 keeps blinking and not detectable
« on: October 10, 2009, 05:40:04 PM »

So today I turned on my DNS-323, and the led indicator for the power button kept blinking and never stoppep. Both the network and HD light does not blink at all. I also found out that both my 1TB hds are not making any noise, so they are not running at all. I have also checked my router that its not getting an IP from it as well, usually I can see it gets assigned an ip.

I tried removing the hds and started it several time, it still does the same thing. I've never tried install any programs on it. The only thing I did was upgrading the firmware to 1.07. BTW, it is running RAID 1.

Is my d-link bricked? Can anyone help? Is there any way I can access the data using my usb enclosure?

Thanks

You can read the data from the drive in Windows using a driver. Google and install either of these:

Ext2IFS or
Ext2Fsd

As for your NAS, it's not clear from your post if your unit stopped working immediately after you upgraded the firmware to 1.07?

Have you tried resetting the device back to defaults?

Same thing here.
Unit was powered of for some time and now powerlight blinks, HDD lights are on and netwrk led blinks a little also.
Not connectable.

Reseting box does absolutely nothing :(

Try applying a static IP address to the PC and try to access the DNS-323 at 192.168.0.32 and see if you get anything if not...yeah it looks like your unit may have died. I would recommend contacting support if you within warranty it looks like you may need a replacement.

I tried to reset the unit. It went through the reset sequence but no luck. I loaded the D-Link Easy Search utility and it could not find the drive. Interesting enough, every time I clicked Refresh the led on the front panel blinked ( It also blinks when the switch does a generic access)

Any more ideas as the unit is out of warranty by a few months :(
