D Link DIR- 818 LW crashes with Lenovo x250
« on: June 28, 2015, 04:28:07 AM »

Hi there!
I have a Lenovo x250 running windows 7.
I am having the strangest problem;

The computer works flawlesly at work and on any other network than my home network.

At home I have a broadband internet connection with a D Link DIR- 818 LW router.

My husband has a lenovo x 250 running ubuntu 15,04 without any problems whatsoever.

Our smart TV (Samsung) our Nintendo and our smartphones all work without any problems.

Starting my computer with a ubuntu Live Image from a USB, I don\t have any problems either.

But, when i run my computer on windows and connect to the wireless network, the router crashes after a short while, sometimes after a few minutes sometimes after a little longer. Everyone losses internet connection and we need to restart the router. When the router crashes the message I get is "dns probe finished no internet".

I have talked with my IT department at work who reinstalled windows and updated to the latest drivers.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Karen

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Wireless Configurations

  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using?

Do others windows PCs crash the router?
