Hi there, first off I did search this, but did not find the answer:
Just bought DNS-323, installed two 1TB seagates and formatted for Raid1.
I am in the middle of backing all my computers up to this unit, and once it is all up to date, I want to have an offsite backup location. I was considering this: remove the mirrored hard drive ( the one in the right hand bay I think ) and replace it with a new one of same size and manufacturer.. so I would basically have another 1TB seagate hard drive that would rotate in and out of the unit every couple of weeks.
If this is a good idea, what would you suggest I do for power down / power up of the unit when swapping drives?... for example turn dns-323 off, remove drive, install new drive and power back up?
thanks,
rb

bump... ;D

I'd REALLY consider having a separate USB drive connected to a computer to build your off-site backup on. Screwing around with the RAID is going to cause you nothing but grief!

Thanks, that is what I will do,
