Home Network 310AV - connection lost or slow
« on: September 25, 2016, 06:05:41 PM »

Hello,

I will try to explain the problem step by step.
We bought 4 Wireless extender (310AV) and one 308AV to have wireless all over the house.
Here the scheme of our installation :

So we have :
- Router NETGEAR CG3100
- Powerline 308AV to extend the wifi
- 4 310AV in different room

We succeed to configure all the 310AV and there is WIFI in every room. But, we have a lot of problem when we surf with our computer or even worst with our iPhone. Internet is very slow, sometimes it doesn't load pages. The only solutions is to disconnect and reconnect, but it will work only for few minutes and after it start again to have problem.

I try many test and I see that in the room 1 (where the main router is) I don't have much trouble, sometimes it slow down, but I just need to refresh and it's work. But in other room, my iPhone for example just can't load a simple page.
In the room 1, there is a PC and it have no problem at all. Our macbook have a some problem and every iPhone have a lot of problems.

Maybe it's because every 310AV make a new network, even if I put the same SSID and password so we don't have to reconnect when we move in the house. I tried to use "Clone-My-Wifi" in the 310AV, but doesn't work.
I tried to change the DNS server and use the one from Google --> doesn't work
I tried to stop the QoS --> doesn't work

I don't know if our network is well configure. I think that is the problem because the connection is fast when test with speedtest even with the iPhone (whereas it still not possible to load a page). This thing make me crazy !

Have you ever have this problem ? have you some tracks ideas to resolve this ?

Thank you !

P.S. : Sorry for my english, i think you guess this is not my native language.

Welcome!

What region are you located?

You've to too many WiFi sources in your home. You only need maybe up to 2-3 depending upon how big your home is, including the main host router. Probably running into interferences from each 310 unit in each room. Wireless can go from 20feet up to around 50ft and beyond on 2.4Ghz.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Thank you for your answer.

I'm located in Sydney, Australia.

The problem is thaht the Wi-Fi signal can't reach the different room without the different devices. All the wall are in concrete so it's maybe the reason that the signal don"t go from a room to an other.
On the characteristic of the device, it said that it can manage 6 Extender. And if it's the SSID and password, it's the same network no ?
But the problem is also there with only one or 2 devices. The strange thing it's that it will work for a few times, and after it block. And to work again, I need to forget the Wifi network and reconnect it. Maybe it's a problem of settings, also, the problem didn't seem to happen on the PC computer.
