DAP-1155 IP issue
« on: March 13, 2013, 11:54:35 PM »

Hi friends,
I have LAN cable internet connection with static ip inside my network such as 10.50.78.26, gateway and DNS. When I connect the internet cable to DAP and configure it as AP, I can access the internet only if I assign 10.50.78.26 ip to the devices I want to connect through (laptop, my phone or ipad). Is not it possible to assign the ip directly to the DAP and connect to AP from any device without configuring any ip address, ie with "Obtain ip automatically" setting ?
Thanks in advance.

Link>Welcome!
What Hardware version is your DAP? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on DAP web page under status.
What region are you located?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Did you use the DAPs onboard wizard to set up the unit?

Well I presume that the 1155 should offer up a NAT'd form of a private ip address of 192.168.0.# to client devices if running in AP mode. However I don't have any experience with this particular model since it's not available here in the NA region.

It may need the use of a router to use in conjunction with the DAP however I'm not sure. Most DAPs have a client side address pool that starts with a 192.168, or maybe a 10.0.0.# so that any clients connected get a private IP address while still being able to connect to the Internet, however most installations use a router such as a DIR series router has the main host router then the DAP connects to it additionally.

I recommend reviewing the user manual to see if there is any set up information regarding the use with out a router and or phone contact your regional local DLink support office to set help to set up this model DAP. Inquire and ask if this needs a router of some forum or if there is a setup process to get the going for with out using a router.

Let us know how it goes.
