Title: Share port USB hard disk suddenly got write protected
Post by: timian on April 12, 2010, 10:55:44 AM
Something unexpected happened while I was copying files to my USB hard drive attached to "share port" on my new DIR-825 (p/n EIR825EEU....B2E). Suddenly the copying stopped with an error msg i windows telling me that my USB disc was now write protected ..!
I disconnected the USB disk from the share port and plugged it directely into my laptop - and yes - windows still told me that the disk was write protected. How could that happen?
I could not find a way to un-write protect the disk, so, in order to save my files I had to copy all of them out to another disk and reformat. I was baffeled. Should / could I trust share port again?
