My new ZyXEL router can't find my DNS-313, DHCP problem?
« on: July 26, 2010, 07:10:19 AM »

Hi.

When i changed from a D-link router to a ZyXEL router, the new router didn't find the DNS-313. I also run the search program at the DNS-313 CD, but no box foundt there either.

I think the DNS-313 was configured with fixed IP, but the ZyXEL router uses DHCP.

So, please help me.

The HD in the box is running OK as I can read it by connecting the box direct to my PC by an USB-cable.

This probably belongs in the 313 forum, but I'll try and help.

Does the old router use a different internal IP subnet to the new one? E.g. is the old IP range 192.168.0.1 and the new 192.168.1.1? If so, that might explain why you can't find it easily on your network.

You could try connecting the DNS-313 directly to a computer with a network cable, putting your computer's IP address on the same range as the DNS-313 and navigating to the DNS-313 web configuration to change it's network settings.

Or, hit the reset button on the DNS-313 and it will default back to DHCP - but you'll loose your other configuration data (not your hard disk data).

Thanks, I think you hit the nail ! My previous local IP range was 192.168.0.xxx, and the new router use 10.0.0.xxx. So I'll try out your suggestions. And by the way, where to find an313 forum?

Thanks again, the reset-button fixed my problem. :) Now I have some setup to do, to be able to reach the box by FTP and so on. And of course, I did not make any notes on my previous settings! ;D

There doesn't seem to be a 313 forum so that's probably why we can't find it.
Glad I could help!
