HP notebook lost connection

Hi:
I just setup DIR-655 as access point to my existing network, by connecting port 4 on Dir-655 to port 1 of my netgear router, configured in the same subnet, DHCP off, I use my wife's laptop (HP DV9640) to connect, ti showed 130 Mbs, and everything was working, however, about an hour later, when my wife was trying to access the internet, it showed, internet explorer could not display this page, and I checked the status of the network, it still showed connected to the AP at 54 Mbs, but from IE, it seems there is no connection at all, the firmware is 1.10, Netgear router is connected to a cable modem, Windows small business server 2000 running the network, how should I try to solve this?
