DAP-1155 makes network down!
« on: May 12, 2014, 02:31:07 AM »

Hi there,
I've just bought a new access point for my network (DAP-1155) and I have 15 wired workstations, 3 wireless workstations and 2 print servers (http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-PS110U) on my network. The problem is some times (once a day, for 1-2 hours) network goes down and no station can see or ping another one. I probed the problem and figured out that the problem is with the access point. Because in the network down conditions, when I disconnect the access point, network gets right and works again.
I also tries updating firmware and resetting the access point, but there was no hope.
I am also wondering if there would be a conflict between the access point an print servers.
Please help.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DAP? Look at sticker under DAP.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DAPs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What mode is the DAP running in? MAIN AP or Bridge?
What mft and model is the main host router if one is being used?

Can you review this and provide feedback for each question?
 Wireless Configurations
Links>Wireless Installation Considerations and Managing Signal Congestion
  • Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
  • What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
  • 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
  • Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
  • Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
  • What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
  • Any cordless house phones?
  • Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
  • If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-exhistance and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

I, too, am finding it impossible to connect the DAP-1320 to my Samsung BD-E5900. Just wondering if either of the folks who were experiencing the same issue found a resolution to the problem.
I would appreciate any updates. I've tried every suggestion posted without success, other than trying alternate products. If D-Link would like to supply them, I would be delighted to even do that.
This has to be one of the most frustrating products I've ever purchased, exceeded only by the poor customer service associated with it.

Hardware Version: A1 (label is 1.00)
Firmware Version: ver1.01
Region: Iran, I.R.
The mode is Main AP.
The main router is Zyxel P-660HW-T1 (http://www.routeripaddress.com/routers/9627/zyxel-p-660hw-t1-3.html)

---------------------------------
  • Yes, SSID is changed for sure! (also the name is OK with the rules you mentioned.)
  • It is also AP mode (the dlink AP was intended for extending my network, because the signal was weak and repeater couldn't work fine, so I used a cable and dlink AP to extend my wireless network)
  • It is mixed mode (G and N) and Auto 20/40 Mhz
  • Channel is manually set to 4 because of other APs in neighborhood
  • The security mode is set to WPA-Personal (Auto TPIK and AES)
  • Yeah,I have just one panasonic phone (cordless).
  • There are many of other APs in area.

I tried all of above (changing options) but still I have problem  ???

The main problem could be is that your area is congested with 2.4Ghz WiFi radios and channels are becoming used used up and the wireless can't find a good open and clear channel to use or signals are being interfered with and thus making the WiFi unstable.

Is cordless phone on or near 2.4Ghz?

Try try this on the DAP:
  • Try setting Medium or Low power output settings and test again Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
You may need to move the DAP closer to those devices that use it when you do this.

You may need to get into a 5Ghz WiFi solution if your area is too congested for WiFi on 2.4Ghz.
