Title: Disconnecting from Final Fantasy XI (XBox 360)
Post by: ThiefGold on May 11, 2011, 04:40:39 PM
I've been trying to play Final Fantasy XI on my XBox 360 through this router.  I have the latest firmware available.

According to FF's tech support I need to port forward TCP and UDP 50000 through 65535.  I've done this numerous times on my own and twice through D-Link support and am still getting disconnected.

The game plays fine when it's connected directly to the modem, but as I'm not the only person in the house this isn't really an option.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?  And does anyone know how to fix it?

Are you playing Live on xbox? If so then take a look at the DGL-4500 gaming sticky in that forum. The UI is different however the data contained for xboxes will work for all routers. IT work well.
You need to open up ports 3074 and 53 as well. If your playing on Live, then these should be the only ports you need open.
I recommend using QoS option or the Port Forward option.
QoS will handle this well for you.
Also set up firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for both TCP and UDP.
Let us know if you need any help.

I am, but all of my other XBox games play online with no problems.  I never get disconnected.  The only game that has an issue is Final Fantasy XI

How exactly do I use QOS?  It's set to Automatic Uplink Speed.
