Title: DGS-1210-52 VLAN PVID leak

DGS-1210-52 B3 3.10.013

I PVID my cable modem up to VLAN 101. The router WAN port goes to VLAN 101 and the router LAN port goes to VLAN 1. Anyone on VLAN 101 is served by the cable modem. Anyone on VLAN 1 is served by the router.

All works until the DGS-1210-52 is repowered. The cable modem ipv6 Router Advertisements (RA) leak through to VLAN 1 and all clients get an IPv6 from the cable modem. After the switch is booted the leak is plugged and now the clients have ipv6 to a cable modem they can no longer connect to.

So I put a DGS-1100 in front to PVID it up to 101 which stops the leak. Unfortunately the cable modem traffic causes denial of service to the DGS-1210 switch. Ping to any port is lossy. The DOS stops immediately as the cable modem is unplugged.

My Linksys SG500 PVID without leaking and no DOS problem so that's where the cable modem goes in.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
